F.A.Q Long Term (LT)

This FAQ answers the most frequently asked questions about accommodation for students enrolled in a Paris Dauphine-PSL year-round program, excluding international exchange programs.

The Dauphine Paris-PSL Housing Desk

What service do you offer?

The Dauphine Housing Service team assists students enrolled at Paris Dauphine-PSL University in their search for accommodation.

If you subscribe to our housing assistance service, our team will do everything in its power to offer you accommodation in a university hall of residence in line with your profile and the criteria you have given us in your application. We’ll also do our utmost to help you with the various formalities you’ll need to complete with our partners when you move in.

When I submit my application, am I sure to find a place to live?

By submitting your application, we cannot guarantee you an automatic and immediate allocation. It all depends on availability at the time of application and on the chosen entry date. We have a housing stock of over 700 beds, which will enable us to satisfy all the requests we receive in the near future.

If we do not have any accommodation to offer you at the time we receive your application, your file will be put on hold until our team can make you an offer.

Residences and Accommodations

Can I choose my residence?

You cannot choose the exact residence you’d like to live in, but you can make a wish when you apply, which we’ll do our best to fulfill.

We offer two main categories of accommodation:

  • standard “social” student residences of the Crous type, reserved primarily for Crous scholarship-holders. These residences are located mainly in central Paris and the inner suburbs, with limited services and very attractive rents.
  • residences offering a higher standard of comfort, located mainly in the Paris suburbs of Saint-Ouen and Nanterre. Rents are reasonable but higher, and services are more sophisticated.

All residences are no more than 40 minutes from the Dauphine campus and central Paris.

What type of accommodation do you offer and at what price?

The majority of residences offer single units with a minimum surface area of 18 m², including a kitchenette and private bathroom.  All residences are equipped with social and working areas and one or more laundry services.

The Saint Ouen 1 residence (rue Dain) offers a number of shared studios (2 single rooms + 1 shared bathroom) or studio apartments (room + single bathroom) around a large living room and shared kitchen.

  • For standard Crous-type accommodation, the average rent is around €500/550.
  • For “confort +” accommodation, you should expect to pay between €600 and €800.

All apartments are eligible for APL.

In all residences, heating, electricity and Wi-Fi are included in the rent.

Room cleaning is the responsibility of the resident, except at St Ouen 1 (rue Dain), where a cleaning team regularly visits.

At the end of their stay, residents are required to leave their accommodation in a clean and tidy condition. If they fail to do so, part or all of their deposit will be retained, depending on the state in which the accommodation has been returned.

How are homes equipped?

All units are equipped with a bed, desk, chair, wardrobe and kitchenette with hotplates and fridge. At Saint-Ouen 1 (rue Dain), crockery and microwaves are provided. Students assigned to the Crous are responsible for their own equipment.

Bed linen (comforter, pillow, sheets) and towels are not provided.

Allocations

How are homes allocated?

Housing is allocated primarily on the basis of

  • the student’s social profile,
  • level of study,
  • their geographical distance from their main residence.

Priority is given to students with Crous grants and to minors.

Allocations are made according to availability on the date of application and the desired start date.

Our teams will do their utmost to match your profile and criteria. If we are unable to send you an immediate housing offer, your file will be put on hold until our teams can find a solution that best meets your requirements.

How is managed the waiting list?

There is no possibility of reserving accommodation in advance, nor of being put on a waiting list. Allocations are subject to availability at the time the application is submitted and to the notice we receive. The waiting list is consulted on a regular basis, and offers are sent out according to changes in our stock.

Can I refuse an offer or withdraw?

If you refuse the offer we have sent you, your file will no longer have priority. We will then process the files of students who have not yet received an offer of accommodation. You can also permanently withdraw your application, which will result in your file being archived.

Accommodation assistance fees are non-refundable for any reason whatsoever.

How submit your application

Form and documents to be provided

Who can apply?

Only students enrolled in a Dauphine Paris-PSL program (excluding international exchange programs) and under the age of 30 may apply for accommodation. We do not offer accommodation for couples, nor for short-term stays (less than 6 months).

How do I apply for accommodation?

Students registered for the year must use this link – and only this link – to make their application (application available in Fr or En).

If you make a mistake and use the wrong form, your housing assistance fees will not be refunded.

What documents do I need to provide when completing my application?

To complete your housing application, you will need the following documents:

  • proof of enrolment at Paris Dauphine-PSL (student card, certificate of enrolment or proof of validation of wishes on Parcoursup, MyMaster or MyCandidature),
  • proof of identity: national identity card or passport
avis d’imposition n-1 (for students attached to a French tax household) or proof of financial source for foreign tax households,
  • conditional notification of Crous grant, if applicable,
  • Valid residence permit, if applicable
  • Visale financial guarantee certificate (www.visale.fr) for students from a French tax household; Garantme financial guarantee (www.garantme.fr) for foreign tax households.

A certificate of home insurance must be provided before entering the residence.

Shared appartment & lease

Do you offer shared accommodation?

The housing application form allows you to formulate certain requests: individual housing, co-location…

Our team will do its utmost to satisfy your requests.

In the case of shared accommodation, it is possible to expressly indicate the name of the person with whom the applicant wishes to live – provided that the student is also enrolled at Dauphine.

Please note that there are very few shared apartments available, and that they are mainly located in Saint Ouen 1 (rue Dain):

  • 2 single rooms + 1 shared bathroom
  • single room + private bathroom around a large living room and shared kitchen.

What is the duration of my rental contract?

The allocation of accommodation through the Dauphine Paris-PSL accommodation service is conditional on the student’s enrolment during the current academic year. The lease begins on signature of the contract and runs until at least August 31, unless the student leaves early.

Retention of accommodation for the following year is subject to review by a commission, which then initiates a RElogement procedure requiring the student’s file to be updated and the 49€ housing assistance fee to be paid. Once the file has been updated, checked and validated by the housing department, the student is notified of the decision as to whether or not he/she will be able to keep his/her accommodation for the following year.

Please note that students enrolled in M2 who will no longer be students the following year are invited in March/April to make arrangements to vacate their accommodation by August 31 at the latest.

Entry procedure and calendar

How to get my keys?

Once you have accepted our offer, your details will be passed on to the residence managers. They will take over from the housing assistance service and tell you how to move in.

They will then be your sole contact for any questions you may have concerning your accommodation: information, maintenance, payment, notice, etc….

They will arrange an appointment for you to finalize your file and hand over the keys. No entry is possible without an appointment.

when can i move in? when and how should i pay my rent?

The procedure for paying rent also depends on the procedure set up by the landlord of your residence.

Before you arrive, you’ll need to pay a deposit equivalent to 1 or 2 months’ rent. The first month’s rent is usually required in advance. Some lessors will ask you to pay €300 to €400 to secure your reservation. This will be deducted from the first month’s rent.

Payment of the rent is then made by automatic transfer according to a precise schedule.
